Suffering the Palm Farr

Yes, this is some geek humor.

On Star Trek, when Spock (or any Vulcan) goes into his seven-year mating cycle (in which the victim becomes uncontrollably enraged with irrational lust), they are said to be suffering from the "pon farr"

We have our own little twist on that: as the cold of December gives way to the frigid temperatures of February, we suffer from what we call the "Palm Farr": dreaming of our annual weekly escape to Palm Springs. As the date to leave gets closer, the Palm Farr gets greater. Less than five days away now, the Palm Farr is in its full rage.
